Hyoja Art Hall

Hyoja Art Hall is only about a 15-minute walk from POSTECH and offers various cultural programs from classical music concerts to plays and movies. Admission is usually free. Pohang Culture and Art Hall

Pohang Culture and Art Hall is the main venue of arts and cultural events in the city and offers high quality performance and exhibitions throughout the year. Pohang City Orchestra also performs regularly at the hall. For program information, please click here (in Korean only).

From POSTECH, it takes about 15–20 minutes by taxi and costs about KRW 7,000.

Pohang Museum of Steel Art (POMA) and Hwanho Haemaji Park

Pohang Museum of Steel Art is located at Hwanho Haemaji Park near Yeongildae Beach. Admission is free, and visitors can also enjoy a nice walk along pretty gardens at the park and beautiful view of Yeongildae Beach at the park’s observatory. From POSTECH to Hwanho Haemaji Park, it takes about 30 minutes by taxi (costs about KRW 15,000) and about an hour by bus (Route 207).

Yeongildae Beach

Yeongildae Beach is a great spot for weekend afternoons as well as breezy evenings during the week. There are many restaurants, cafés and bars along the beach.

It’s only a 10-minute drive from Downtown Pohang and about 35 minutes from POSTECH.

Jogging and Bicycle Track along Hyeongsan River

There is a nice track along Hyeongsan-gang River for those who enjoy jogging, walking, or riding a bicycle. You can join the track at the Hyoja SK-View Apartments area (about a 30-minute walk from POSTECH). If you walk towards POSCO and other steel plants, the track will meet the end of Hyeongsan-gang and continue along Songdo Beach.

City of Gyeongju

Pohang is only a 40-minute drive away from the historic city, Gyeongju which was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla for almost one thousand years until the 10^th century. Gyeongju is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Korea and has an abundance of historical sites for tourist to enjoy. There are buses from Pohang to Gyeongju every 10 to 20 minutes, and you can either leave from Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal. For more information, please visit the Gyeongju Tourguide Website. Daegu Opera House

The closest opera venue is Daegue Opera House. There are several ways to get to Daegu from POSTECH. If you need help, please contact your visit coordinator.
